Benelli NOVA

Is the benelli Nova a good shotgun for beginners or is there a better one

RE: Benelli NOVA

I won a Benelli Nova back in March at the local NWTF Banquet. I LOVE MINE!! It's a great shotgun. Points and shoots great, has been 100% reliable with everything from skeet loads to turkey magnums. The gun is extremley easy to take down and put back together for cleaning, actually the easiest pump shotgun I've ever dealt with. The ONLY thing I don't like about mine is that it isn't camo'd :D I think a beginner or expert would be satisfied with the Nova.

As with any shotgun some people like them and some don't . I bought a Nova and didn't care for the way it rattled in the forearm . I sold it to a friend and he loves it .

Halcon,
The forearm comes a little loose so that mud, dirt and the like won't mess with the action. However, like you I didn't care for the rattle too much. I found that you can tighten the slide bars on the forearm with an allen wrench and loose the rattle. It only takes a VERY SMALL turn, NOT TOO TIGHT. About 1/10" at the most I would figure. Just in case your buddy would like to get rid of that rattle :D

I have the 24" camo model and love it. The rattle isn't a big factor to me but I'll definitely have to try the tightening thing. Thanks for the idea.

I broke mine in by goose sneaking. Unloading 4 - 3½" BBB's at snowgeese up close and personal for two days. The gun never faltered. Should have seen my shoulder on Monday morning, though. [:@]

My two sons both have Novas and they are very smooth handling. Eveytime you bring the gun up it is exactly where it should be. The rattle is not an issue. I would recommend it.
