Calls
I was curious, from one turkey season to the next do you change calls for the up-coming season? I like new calls. I got a Cody slate last week that I can't wait use. I do know people find success with certain calls or even use the same sequence during an entire season and I just think it puts a hunter at huge disadvantage. What if your old reliable fails you and you have nothing else in the bag to throw at them? 10 weeks and counting here in Iowa!

RE: Calls
I buy a few diaphrams every year but thats about it, always use my old steady calls
|
RE: Calls
I buy new mouth diaphrams to replace my most used ones, Always take along my old Box,Slate and Glass calls.
Sometimes I have wanted to throw the Bag at the old bird when he outwits me |
RE: Calls
If my box, slate and mouth call don't work. Than I go back to the old time calls wing bone, tube and yelpers.

RE: Calls
Homer listen to R4P here.I agree with him a 100%!But being a versitale caller can change the outcome of a hunt drastically.Being able to read a gobblers mood and interest in your calling tells me what to keep using or switch to something else that might fire him up.I"ve gone from air to friction and clear to raspy before and had a hunt change from going nowhere to a success story.Carry more than one call to the turkey woods that sounds different than your old reliables cause it may just be something ole gobbler wants to hear!:)

RE: Calls
I have a couple old faithful calls. I do replace mouth calls as they wear out, but I use the same type and model.
Other than that, I will carry a different one from my collection of custom calls from time to time when the weather is nice just so that I can say that I have taken a turkey with each one. Safe and Happy Hunting! My Hunting Page Edited by - markt99 on 02/06/2002 09:40:11 |
RE: Calls
I use the same over and over until they wear out and then replace them.
