Hang on Bud ,I'll go back and find that last tips I posted ...BT man can't find it.Purring is not the easyest call to make on the mouthcall.

OK - Purring on a Mouth call !
Not all mouth calls are good to purr on finding one that works well for you is the start. V cuts and cutters work ok.
Purring is done the same as you would if you where gargling mouth wash ,useing the back of your throat. Place the call in the palate and lighty gargle as you add presure to the latex , letting the viberations run over the call , adjusting the presure will adjust the volume of the purr. A good purr is done with your lips almost closed only alowing a limited amount of volume out....BT

Totoe, hello- I use a plain dbl. reed, and I blow the highnote, softly.and to get a purr, I leave my lips loose -like children do when they are playing w./toy cars & boats to make a "motor sound"-You should try it. it's only drawback ( for me ) it tickles my lips. but it's effective when Tommy three toes is close & you cannot get away with any movement with a striker or box-GOOD LUCK !!!

I use the same technique as muddyduck. I have a hard time with the gargle technique but the lips method works like a charm!

I use both methods, but thing of the "gargling" method slightly differently. I growl instead of gargle. It does a lower pitched purr like a fighting purr. The right mouth call is very important to getting the right pitch.

I do the kid lip techinque to. I hate how it tickles, but what can you do. I still have problems making soft and low.

totoe, i'm not a very good caller with the mouth call. but i have learned how to use one the past couple of years. the key for me was to find a call that was good for purring. i finally tried the quakerboy srceamin green 4 pack. i found that i could make good purrs with the old boss hen and the pro triple. the other 2 the world champ and the jagged edge did'nt work well for me. i hope this helps. good luck and safe hunting.
