Jakes are still strutting!

Jakes are still strutting! Yep. Drove Past a field as I was leaving due to incoming thunderstorm. Came upon this flock of turkeys in the center of a cornfield. Witnessed 2 Jakes in full strut. Must still be horny!
Forgot my phone or I would have tried for a picture.

Oh and I saw a hen with poults rhe size of pheasants too!

It's never too early to scout!

I haven’t seen many turkeys at all. I did see a couple of hens in different areas that had young poults with them. The poults looked to be only a day or two old though. I think with all the rain we had in June sat them back?

Hens will re-nest until they bring off a successful brood. However, wet, especially cold and wet, Junes are tough on young unfledged poults. They are little sponges. Hypothermia gets 'em.
