Does your state have a turkey youth hunt.
 

Thanks to Mississippi youth hunt I get an extra weekend to hunt and intoduce a kid to the best hunting sport going. Shouldn't every state be doing this for our sport.

Missouri started their youth hunt program last spring, it went over very well with in excess of 2500 birds being bag over the weekend hunt, also had a first time youth deer hunt. Things like this work great to get kids into and keeping them in the hunting sport.

..They have a one day youth deer hunt,but as far as turkey i dont think so...wish they did..:)..

i heard we are goin to....but i will be 16 when its in use :( i got to take deer in youth hunts...and tree rats...i read there gunna ave youth turkey and pheasant hunts...next year...

I look foward to the youth hunts. My son is asking me now what day it will be. We use it for a father and son week end. I'll take off work and we'll pack some food and drink. We'll load the 4 wheeler and spend the mornings on a hill overlooking 200 ac.
After noon we'll ride the 4 wheeler in the water and mud on over 1000 ac. I'll let him drive. I'll be prepaired to hook up the winch several times. We'll come home a mess. It'll be great !!!

Here in Ohio, We have a youth turkey hunt ,the two days before regular season starts, On State land,The youth has to have a hunting license and been through a Hunter Education Course,And be with a adult who has their license. We can call for the youth or help them in any way, but they have to shoot the Turkey their self. Also Ohio has a Youth Pheasant Hunt the weekend before regular pheasant seasond on selected state land ,Same requerment as the turkey hunt. The O.D.N.R. releases Birds at Fallsville Wildlife area the morning of the hunt,I don't know if they release birds any where else or not.Also on National Hunting and Fishing Day in Warren CO.At the Spring Valley Gun range, The O.D.N.R. Sets up at the Range ,with 22,shotguns,muzzleloader and Bow's The Hunter Education Instructor Pair off to help any one who wants to learn how to shoot ,This doesn't cost the adult or youth anything Plus they don't have to have License, Just show up,and have Fun for the afternoon.Also the O.D.N.R. sets up a Bow and BB gun, range At the state Fair in Columbus that the Hunter Education Instructor take turns working.The Hunter Education Instructor Donate their time to help these cause's. These are great ways to introduce anyone to our sport.

In Minnesota we don't have one.We draw for all our tages here,with about 40,000 people applying for a little over 20,000 tags.As GobbCaller said,I can't see it ever happening here what with our current draw system.
