Is Carlson’s long beard XR choke tubes really worth the money?

I have a NEF Pardner pump with a 28 inch barrel. It takes a Mossberg500, browning invector style choke tube. I have a HS strut undertaker 665. on it currently for turkey hunting. Note this choke isn’t ported. The choke has done really well on killing Toms at 50 yards and further. I use 3 inch long beardXR shells #5 shot
I’ve heard a lot of talk about a Carlson’s long beard XR choke tube that’s specifically designed for this ammunition. Is it worth the 60$ to get this choke or should I just stick to my undertaker?

Yes. I shot a “compNchoke” tube with good results on my Win 1300 with hevi-shot & wingmaster HD for several years. Then I got a Carlson’s choke for my SBE II, as a back-up/loaner turkey gun to match a deal on Win LBXR shells.

My 1300 sports a Carlson’s tube now.

I guess it all depends but for me yes. 835, 3.5" 5 shot LBs, Carlson LB XR choke, Bushnell Elite 3200 1.5-4. I wouldn't hesitate taking a 70yrd shot.

Turkey hunting is a "gadget" sport and we turkey hunters are always looking for that gadget that will give us that extra edge. I have the same Undertaker choke tube in my '80's vintage BPS. I use the same Long Beard ammo, only my gun prefers #4's. I get killing patterns at ridiculous ranges with that combination. I have no intention to change. If you have the money you can see if it will work better than your UT tube. It's good for the economy and you can always change back if it doesn't work. But I tried a Carlson's tube at one point only to determine that it didn't give me any better patterns.
