Where do you shoot a turkey with a bow
Hey was just wondering Where do you shoot a turkey with a bow?
|
Bow shot
Head on shoot at the base of the beard, away shoot base of fan strutting and broad side shoot where wing attaches to the body
|
broadside, hold on the butt of the wing, thats a lung shot.

What are you talking about the name of the location or just the place to hunt a turkey?
|
The saying to remember is “ shoot them high and watch them die, shoot them low and watch them go.”

I shot my very first turkey with a bow while deer hunting. I shot it high on the wing. It broke a wing as it was going threw it. The strange thing about it was there was this little stump that I never saw behind it. Yes it was stuck with my arrow and the stump. That one never went anywhere. But if one is in strut I wouldn’t hesitate to take it in the fan either..

Do yourself favour and get a head chopper like a bullhead. Then just take their head off end of story. No chasing them all over like with a body shot. ;)

Use the expanding arrowheads - flat tips with a pointed tip. Expanding tips go right through, leaving considerable holes. This is important, since turkeys have few weaknesses
