OK, Now What?

Last week, I asked where I could find slate since we don't have any native around here. Well, I asked around the deercamp today and much to my surprise, One of the guys was doing some tractor work for a fellow and had run over and cracked an old pooltable bed. I NOW HAVE SLATE--LOTS OF IT!!! The only problem is that it is an inch thick!

The question is what's the best way to cut this down to usable thicknesses? I have a radial arm saw, a table saw, and a drillpress to work with. What type of blade do I need?

I've not tried it yet myself butCustomCalls.com says that you can split it with an old knife. I've also heard that hand sawing is better than power since it doesn't build up a large amount of heat which is supposed to make it crack.

I haven't tried this myself yet but, The
setup I use to cut ceramic tile uses a regular 4&quot; grinder with a wet blade which sells for about 17.00 canadian
Thats about 2.00 U.S.

ckeck out uory local Lowes home supply co,for the name of some tile contractors in your area.they have wet saws to cut it with.I'll bet they will cut some for you.
