is it possible to mount a turkey and still save the meat for eating? like skinning ? :)

If you take a turkey to the taxidermist he' ll skin it and give you the meat to take home.

Yes I agree jalvja, You can skin it...But its very easy to mess up. SO i' d go with

thanks guys , i' m looking forward to this season , i' m planning on using my .22 hornet for the job to save the skin as much as possible :D:D

If you want to save the skin even more. Get close and shoot him in the head with a scattergun! Most taxidermists use replicated heads on all turkey mounts. Many states no longer allow rifle hunting for turkeys due to the use of camoflauge and decoys causing accidents. ONLY shotguns and bows here in KS

I don' t know, but I guess the hard part to mounting a bird would be getting it to hold still? [:o]:D:D

thanks forthe advise bigcat , here in pa , we' re allowed to use rifles during the fall season. i didn' t know they used replicated heads , do they do that with all game birds bud or just turkeys ????? :):)

Actually the best way for the turkey head to be preserved is to freeze-dry it, then it is painted. That way all the small hairs and feathers stay on the head, unlike the polyurethane heads.

We have a turkey mount, no clue how it was done, but anyway it looks good. Usually you mount just he beard, tails, and talons. But you cant go wrong with a big cat chasing it on the mount, but id say taxidermist.
