Got caught this morning
 

Pretty much got caught with my pants down so to speak. I slept in because I knew where the birds would be about 1/2 mile from my house. So about 7:30 I headed out. Once I got where I was seeing the birds I gave a series of yelps. Sure enough a gobbler sounded off about 1/4 mile away.
I walked to a bend in the road about 50 yards away and got my decoy out. But instead of setting it up and going to sit down I gave another call. He sounded off about 200yards out. I stuck the decoy down and ran to a tree about 15 yards away. laying the shotgun across my lap I pulled out my face mask. And as I was putting it on I heard him putting like mad and running off. He must have been so horny that he covered that 200 yards in about 30 seconds and saw me before I was ready....Oh well...if was fun

I've had that happen... came in so fast I wasn't ready...

Yeah about 10 years ago I walked up onto a flat about 50 yards to where it dropped off again. I gave some soft yelps and a gobbler was just over the edge. He gobbled and came running in at full speed. Once he saw me at about 25 yards it was too late. I rolled him from a standing position.
