Got a new Mossberg 835 turkey gun how do 3.5" pattern Indian Creek choke

Got a new Mossberg 835 Camo turkey gun and this is my first gun that will shoot 3.5" shells.

I have an Indiana Creek choke tube on it and thinking about trying either Hevi shot #5 or #6.

If you have tried the 3.5" hevi shot how where your results?

Thanks

I used Federal 3rd degree out of my 835 last year and was pretty impressed. The Hevi shot is just too pricey for me. I do have an older 835 thought that is not ported. I put a limbsaver butt pad on it for the kick now the only complaint I have is the barrel rise. Its very hard to keep hold of the gun with my left hand and makes follow up shots if needed almost impossible.

I've been using my 835 for the past couple seasons and still have not gone to 3 1/2, the 3" have been working just fine.

I'll agree here. 3 1/2" really isn't needed but it'll put hair on your chest.........or maybe it will knock it off. lol

pretty sure I have a primos Jelly head choke on as well. Excellent patterns out of my 835

I have a limbsaver butt pad on my gun also. It really helps with recoil.

I was shooting some 3" Hevi shot #6's and it patterned pretty good and the recoil was not bad at all.

Will going to 3.5" just beat me up more and not really give me any better patterns or range?

Thanks

Check out Old Gobbler. You will find your answer there.

I recommend the Hevishot Magnum Blends of 5's, 6's and 7's. Id get a box if I was you and see how it patterns, you will probably be pretty impressed.

Everyone is going to give you a different answer. Try the Indian Creek choke tube, and if you're not getting a decent pattern, keep trying different chokes and shells until you are happy; might happen right away, might not, most guns shoot differently, doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. As far as 3 1/2 shells, I like them, never hurts to throw as much lead as possible, but they are not for everyone.

I'd try the mag blend with that choke

Try looking at Rem. Wingmaster HD shells. It is very similar to Hevi-shot but the pellets are much rounder.
