Pattermaster Chokes

I have applied and hopefully will be drawn for a permit for the spring turkey hunt in Maine. I am new to the game and need some advice. Has anyone used the Patternmaster choke in a Rem. 11-87 with any success? I also have mounted an Aimpoint on the gun. Will I be better off with a turkey scope like the one Nikon offers? Thanks!

I'm sure that it will work fine for turkeys I know that alot of duck hunters use them, they are definitly one of the best.

RE: Pattermaster Chokes

A friend of mine gave me a "Pattern Master" choke as a gift for my Remington 11-87 several years ago. Since the first time I took it out to the gun range I was impressed with it. At 50 yards I had roughly 50% more pellets in a 30 inch circle. Not only that but I have pulled off extended range shots ( 60-70 yards) on mallards, Maine Eiders, and geese that were just unreal using BBB & T shot. I also shot my first Gobbler last spring with it. At 40 yards the pattern is solid! Hope this helps.

I received the patternamaster choke last week and I am sending it back tommorow. It didn't hold a tight pattern on any of the shells that I tried, (except buckshot). I tried 5 different shells and 3 different brand names, I guess my 870 supermag didn't like the PM superchoke. I was wanting to use this choke as an all around choke, deer, turkey, duck, whatever. Hope your luck w/ the patternmaster is better than mine.

I tried my buddy's Patternmaster last year at the patterning board. What I noticed was a nice, uniformly dispersed pattern. It wasn't the tight pattern that I'd expected, but I do see where it would be a more consistent one because it didn't have holes in it. Too rich for my blood though. He swears by it for ducks and geese with #2s.
