Got an Indian creek choke what shot size Hevi Shot

RIght now my set up is an 12ga 3" mag primos jellyhead and hevi shot Mag blend.

I got my Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike choke in today and I am trying to decide which shot size of Heve shot to use.

1. #6 To this seems to be the more logical choice to start out with but they do have several 7's .

2. #7 My concern with then is at 40+yrds will they have enough knock down power with it having just as many shots sizes that are over 7.

3. Mag blend This is the only one I have ever tried but I am out of them right now, and looking at a run down of the pellet sizes most of them are 7-8 shot alot less 5' and 6'.

Here is some graphs from hevi shot (don't know how old they are) that shows what the average shell has in it. As you can see the # 6's have about the same number of both 6 and 7's and the #7's have alot of 7.5, 8's you get alot more 7.5 and 8's than you do 7's.

#7's in HTL and lead have more than enough energy to kill at 40 yds. The biggest benefit is the density of the load at that distance.

I have an indian creek on the way for my 12 ga 870. Let me know what you try and results. I am deciding which hevi load to try also. I think I am going to try hevi 13 #6 2.25 oz. but have considered magnum blend.

Whoa! You are overthinking this waaay too much.

FYI..I thumped my first longbeard with a boring old Win Supereme 2 3/4" #4 lead shot at 40-42yds.

I hear #7 heavy shot is good out to 60-70 yards...

I'll stick with my Win LB #5's and keep em under 50 yards

No one can say what your gun and tube combo is capable of. The only true way is to shoot several brands and shot sizes to know. The best way to do this is have several of your buddies and yourself go and buy various brands and shot sizes and hit the range and do some shooting.
Others can give you ideas as to what shoots good in their shotguns but that is not your gun.
Just my opinion.

I'd recommend the Hevi-13 6's if they pattern well in your gun.
