Honey Locust Burl Pot...

Well, I finally finished up the first call out of this Honey Locust Burl that's been drying for,.....like ever! LOL. Anyways, the call is stabilized, and has a matching soundboard, and glass surface. This is my first stabilized wood soundboabrd, and I'm really pleased. This thing flat out sings!

Nice! I was looking for a gift for my father, maybe I'll check your calls out as a possible idea.

That's some nice wood. I have never turned stabilized stock. How is it to work with?

It turns real nice! I make the blanks oversized slightly, and rough in the sound holes and sound chamber, so as there is less to stabilize. Then when it comes out of the oven and cooled down, I finish them. Only thing you have to be careful with is making sure your piece has 0 Moisture content. If it has any moisture at all, it will push out the resin in the oven, when it vaporizes.

Nice looking call and the holder looks great as well. That looks like a well done call to me..

I did some buffalo nickels on the back of my calls and tried to on the striker top but strikers are too small for a nickel.
