Bug spray will mess up the finish on your gun
I used "hunters insect spray". I put it on my hands to put it on my face. As I held my gun It became sticky feeling. As day light came on I looked down to find that it had melted the camo off my gun. This was a dipped camo finish which is oil based.
The company that makes it realy teed me off with their responce. I'm not through dealing with them so I'll not post their name yet.
So you guys be carefull with the bug spray.

I used to use that stuff, too. Anything with DEET in it will do that. It will also eat the paint off your truck. I used to spray it on my arms and when I would drive with the window down i would lean my arm on the windowsill. Before long, I noticed that the clearcoat, then the paint got gummy and wiped off.
I now use the Permanone products and don't seem to have that problem.

It'll mess up your watch crystal too. I've still got spots that won't clean off on my Timex. No wonder it kills bugs so well.
I was just noticing where you 2 are from. Leave it to a couple of Mississippi boys to screw up their truck and their gun with bug spray. JK. Up until 2 years ago, I was a lifelong Central Mississippi native. I was the athletic trainer for both Florence and Brandon HS, as well as every other school in the county. The Regional Director for the NWTF out here did some time in Pearl. Small world. Drop me an e-mail to let me know how life in the DEEP SOUTH is going.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Once in the army while using their 96% Deet bug juice it MELTED the case to my G-shock watch. One night I had a watch, next morning I had a stainless steel slug of metal on my wrist. It also numbs your lips and will melt a styrofoam cup in a matter of seconds. BUT it was effective against skeeters!

Slee, We probably met and didn't know it. I used to work the medical support detail at football games with the fire dept in Brandon. I'm sure we carried a couple off together. Anyway, I drove that truck til the wheels fell off so It didn't devalue it any. That DEET is baaaaad stuff! I don't use it anymore. Good luck with your new life in the great northwest.
