State of depression
It's a sad time of year. All hunting seasons are over. Turkey season is over. I feel like I should be out there hunting something.

I'm in almost the same position. Fortunately, hogs are open year round, assuming you stay off the WMAs. Same orange and weapons rules as deer. I'm going with my brother later this week; even if we don't get anything it's still good to get out.
|
Out of curiosity, do you get 2 extra weeks (after gun season) of archery-only turkey hunting? I recently found out we do in CA and am now trying to put that together (i.e. get up to snuff with a bow).
then again, Colorado isn't that far from Little Rock. Maybe it's time for a road trip? |
Well, it happens, over here in the East we have year round Yote and hog hunting. Plus we got pretty good access to Salt and Fresh water fishing year round so we always find ways to kill time.

The end of turkey season is depressing. The end of deer season doesn't bother me as much: been chasing the deer around for a few months, it's the middle of winter, and getting out of the cold for a while doesn't seem like the worst idea. Turkey is different, it's spring, the weather keeps getting nicer, then it just ends. We're almost done in Illinois (goes to Thursday). I have 2 more weekends of hunting, but have to drive to Wisconsin to do it.

Hogs. Kill hogs.

|
I've been working on it
I've been cutting down trees in the cold weather.
No time to get depression. |
Killing a few coyotes could help the turkeys out for next season.
|
Think of not ever hunting again....ever!!!! Now that is the ultimate depression!
So be patient season will be here soon. Fix your equipment. Try to harvest a bird with a different gun or try a different method. Make a few calls. Heck go pet your taxidermy work! :) All of the above helps pass the time. JW |

Go out and shoot some coyotes and pick out a big "Tom" bobcat during the "off season". Those cats make beautiful rugs ! |
Geez, I learned something today and that's there is a 51st state named depression, LOL! Seriously though, there are plenty of things to do and for me there is never an "off" season! Reloading is one great thing in the winter when the weather sucks so bad you don't want to go out and I find it a very satisfying endeavor!

Go to CO. You can get OTC tags for hens in some of the areas along the NE line. season is open until Dec 31. You can get another turkey there if you want one.
|
No duck call laying around??Turkeys and waterfowl is me!!!Spring turkey, summertime fishing, fall doves, and mt quail, winter is all about the duck blind!!
|
Chin up my friend!! It will not be all that far away and we will be out busting a few caps on the turkeys again.. Hopefully all our team members will be signing in then as well...
I am waiting now for some ice to from so as I can get out on tha lakes and catch a few fish.. |
depression is the worst thing i've ever faced. it destroys you from the inside.

You might want to actually read the OP's (that's the person who started this topic) actual post as it's quite different from just reading the title of this topic.
|
Yeah, I'm the same way right now.
