Installed Gobble Stopper Scope on 870 and I can see the barrel in the scope
I have an 870 express Mag. and I decided to put a scope on it.
I used a weaver saddle mount which is surprisingly rock solid, no movement at all. I have shot all kinds of 3" loads including slugs and my scope is still dead on. I followed the mounting instructions to a T. But my problem is I can see the barrel of the gun when I look through the Turglo gobble stopper scope. It is visible at the bottom and I can see about 8" or so of it. Is that normal? |
It is normal in low power scopes to see part of the barrel. After all it's right next to it. As long as the gun shoots where the scope says it should, you're good.

28" barrel?
I wonder if you had a 20" rifled barrel if you'd be able to see it then? |
Normal to be able to see barrel/sights on low power scope
|
Yep, I had that same set up with a 2x7 power scope on it. When I turned it down, I could see the barrel.

Having a 1x4 scope on my gun, if I have it set on 1X, I can see the end of my barrel as well. By putting at 2X to 2 1/2X it minimizes that problem.

My grandson has the same gun. It's normal. I used the bead to align the red dot left to right as a starting point.
