Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default What's your favorite turkey subspecies to hunt

My favorite birds to chase are rios, they are very vocal and very fun to hunt!

I've only ever hunted Easterns, but I'd love to hunt the other subspecies. Rio Grande would be my next choice, followed by Merriams then Oscela.

Its a toss up between Merriam's and Osceola's

Merriam's like to talk and can move fast,

Osceola's are quiet , but its warm when the season opens lol

I have been lucky and been able to hunt turkeys all over the last few years. I would say that for me the location is more interesting than the actual birds. However if just going by looks I killed some Rio's in Texas that have the most beautiful turquoise iridescent color variation in the tail secondary feathers that I have seen.

Osceolas. They are the toughest by far. I wish they'd learn to gobble......
