I need help
 

So me and my cousin want to kill some turkeys at his place, but the problem is is that neither of us know what we're doing. All we have are 2 box calls, and we can't get them to come from the neighbors pasture into ours. They just need to cross one fence, it's legal to use rifles but those are last resort options. What do we need to do? We can't get their attention for anything in the afternoon, and haven't tried morning yet.

MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!! turkeys are most active in the morning. try it then and im sure you can wind up with a different result

Yes, morning is generally better. Also if you can get a hen decoy
and set it where the birds can see it and about 15 yards from where you are set up that may help. Any chance of getting permission to hunt
the pasture where they want to go? It's always best to set up
in areas the Turkeys are normally using if you can.

Lastly most people that are just starting to Turkey hunt call
too much and frequently too loud. Once you have a response to
your box call set the call down and wait patiently. Let him
gobble several more times, before even thinking about
responding again and if the gobbles are getting closer
you may not want to call again at all. Exception to what
I've just said is if a hen responds to your call, then respond every time
she does trying to sound the same except louder---cut off her
calls with yours ---you want to make her so mad she comes to
kick your butt and hopefully brings the Tom with her.

I also find that sometimes it is better hunting between 9:00 and 11:00 as the toms start moving around again looking for more hens..

The advise above is great advice on getting one to come in to you. To much calling and they tend to go the other way..

I seem to have my best luck after 830/900am. Best advice for calling too much, listen the hens in your certain area. Some places i hunt the hens are vocal as crazy. Other spots youll hear them yelp a few times every couple minutes.

once a gobbler hears your calls and gobbles back, if he doesn't come he's with a hen, sometime around mid-morning the hen will slip away to lay her egg that day, then he will come, once you know is is coming cut the call to a minimum, as long as you call he will gobble, as long as he gobbles he won't move much, the more he gobbles the slower he'll move giving another hunter or another hen the chance to intercept him, if he sees a real hen, he's not coming to a call. I know this

Thanks guys! What about lunch time hunting? I saw jay Gregory kill one or two at about lunch time with his bow from a tent stand. And would setting. Tent stand in the middle of a hay field not scare them? I feel like they wouldn't be used to it and it'd scare them.

Turkey hunting is suppose to be challenging...

That is what makes turkey hunting so rewarding for me...

Try reading as much as you can about the animal that you are trying to take the life of and there is a ton of TV hunting shows that if anything you can learn what a turkey call should sound like...

Earn your turkey don't punk him with a rifle...
