i prefer to take a mature bird or 2 each year. I do enjoy eating them so if push comes to shove, I will take a jake.... towards the end
|
I did, however, take a 21lb jake last season towards the end... big young boy...
|
This might be the year for me to take a jake. There are a lot in my area and seem to be very few mature birds. Time will tell I guess. LOL
|
Don't care if someone else does but for me at this time no. I have already had 17 jakes inside of 15 yds in 3 different states on public and private! They are just too dumb, on public or private land ! Fun to watch though !

I'll let you know tomorrow after noon.

Looks like this is gonna be a trophy or nothing thread. Its no different than shooting a button buck :D they both eat the same:D We had a semi-mild winter so I think this year will be lots of turkey chicks. |
no jake for me
this years bow kill, about 18 ft. flopped him, 45 # howatt hunter, would never shoot a young turkey lol
cheers |
jake bow kill
photo didn't transfer for me

I've shot 1 Jake and 1 hen that had a 7" beard. Other than those 2, I wait for the birds with a rope. Just my preference but I have no problem with what people want to shoot. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

If it was legal were I hunt and I was not having any luck and one came to me I would roll it up
