If there is girls there has to be boys RIGHT?

Well I finally seen some turkeys were I hunt but only 8 old hens. There has to be some Tom's around somewhere wouldn't you think. It has been a very long winter very cold. We got about 4 inches of snow last night and was surprized to see them for the first time.

I would have to say ,yes.

It seems to me in the past that tom'e would be out there feeding with the hens this time of year. It just seemed odd not to see a tom. Could it be they are spliting up now and will hens stick togather?

Is the same here in Northeast WI - I find flocks of just hens and maybe a jake with them and then find good bachelor flocks of nice bearded toms from 3 to 5 to 20 or more.

Still too cold and too much snow

Tonight I went out o see if they would be in the same field and there was a mature Tom with them. He was fanned out and puffed out the whole time. I would think there are more Tom's around but numbers have been down in this area. Question with a late spring what does that mean for the turkey season?

buck308 04-02-2014 06:01 AM

There should be some near or atleast on the land you may not be seeing toms because you said it snowed 4 inches it may be too cold for some turkeys

Grawlix 04-03-2014 05:46 PM

Well, Goodness and Mercy, you'd (grawlix) THINK SO, for Heaven's Sweet !@#$%^%$#@$ sake.

But sometimes it's not that way............
