Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Here in Maine, I would say there's about 8 inches left of snow on the ground in the woods.
and the season starts on the last Saturday in April, so I haven't been to pumped up for turkey season. that is until Monday when I saw 8 different toms on a 10 mile radius from my house! 2 of which were strutting!

It appears the turkeys have split up, the Groups that I saw where all 1 tom and 3-5 hens.
however I did see one group with just 4 toms in it.

I am not sure exactly what part of maine you are in but, we have a little over 3 feet of snow in the woods here.. Yes I am in Maine also!! So I am guessing you are from Southern Maine where all those signs are stuck up on almost every tree???

Yeah I'm in southern Maine, not sure what you mean by signs stuck on almost every tree however.

looking at this picture on a computer I can tell I circled a tree instead of a bird Damn *********** are to small.

luckily My cousin owns the property next to where I took this picture. I've always hunted there on opening day, but the turkeys stay hung up in that posted Field. hopefully I can outsmart them this year.

Right where you circled the tree is one of those signs.. I know when ever we travel down that way we just turn and head back north.. No sence in hunting down south for us with all those signs we keep seeing.. That is sad but some areas up this way is getting the same results because of a few individuals and folks moving into Maine.. It is a mixed bag of things and discourages a lot of folks that is for sure..

Spring? Knee deep snow is making me think it might not ever come! The sun still has not been taken away, so at some point (like mid-May) all the cold weather pouring down from the Arctic will be beat back.

And MN, MI, upstate NY, and Maine also got this blast.

I clearly know the feeling MZS !! Our open water fishing starts this coming Tuesday.. That is a big joke this year as well.. But, we did get rain yesterday and a storm moving in today is calling for more rain in my area with flood warnings. That is what I am hoping we do not get is massive flooding. I do want all that white stuff to vacate the place though. This year has been a long winter for us all every where..
