Have a question

Recently we have had flooding on the river bottoms and wood areas. There still is large ice junks laying all over the bottoms. Since this time I have not seen one turkey. What is our thought on where these turkeys have done or do yo think they may have not killed through this flooding?

No I doubt very much the flooding has killed them.. Turkeys can fly and will head up into the trees if the need arrises. I think they all headed up to higher ground. There is no need for them to hang around the streams or rivers if there has been a lot of rain or snow melt. They will surely find water pockets up on the higher ground to drink from. So I would start checking the ridges more or farther back from the areas of flooding..

I agree. Turkeys are very mobile and will readily leave an area to return when conditions improve. Look for them in cover on higher ground.

Col. Tom Kelly has said that he has seen and heard of turkeys that spent more than 2 weeks in trees because of flooding. They pick what bugs they can find in trees and wait for the waters to subside.
