I call using my natural voice . That said I also use a slate call with 3 different strikes as to sound like a bunch of birds. It has worked well for me over the years. Just a few I have called in using my own voice.

A Copper, a slate, an aluminum, and a crystal pot call made by yours truly. Minimum of 3 strikers. Usually hickory, rosewood, and cherry.

Couple of Primos Piggyback diaphragm calls (true triple reed and true double reed)

Hope it's okay that I give all these guys a little plug (with the exception being myself ;) ). All these guys/companies make some of the best calls. At the 2013 convention the Halloran and Rocky Top booths were across the aisle from one another. I played every box call I could find at the convention. The top two were the Halloran and Rocky Top in my opinion. I bought 2 of the Rocky Top boxes, one for myself and one for my daughter.

Michael Buckner and family are the premier crow call makers out there. It cost me 40$ for a crow call but it is worth it. They won 1st-5th place at this years show. Won 4 out of 5 ribbons in 2013.

Mr. Crook didn't enter a call until the 2012 show and placed 4th. Scratch boxes are a cool little thing.

Harrison's Hoot'n Stick is patterned after 2009 Rookie Call Maker of the Year James Harrison's call. He has won a few owl hooting competitions and is on the pro staff with Hook's Custom Calls.

Gotta love that Harrison's Hooting Stick. I carry four pot calls, two mouth calls, a box call and a variety of strikers. Plus a ton of other things that I probably don't need but can't talk myself into going without it.

Two box call one that is raspy and one clean and crisp. I use both and I have success with ahrvesting both my birds.

At least one slate, one glass call. Box call, crow call, and a bunch of mouth calls. Also take a gobbler call with me but rarely use it.

I have a glass, a long box, an owlcall along with a gobbler.. I tried my owl call last year in an area I knew the birds were roosting in. I thought I got a gobble back and then a group of owls scattered out in that area started hooting back at me.. So I could not say for sure as the owls interupted everything.. I have tried my gobbler call a few times and recieved a few responces biut nothing very encouraging..

Two mouth calls and thats it. I take two just in case the reeds blow apart in one of them. I use my mouth for owl and crow and 99% of the time I'm running and gunning. I have 8 to 10 spots across the county I live in to hunt and will chase the hot bird rather thans sitting in the woods listenig to woodpeckers. I just prefer to go light and mobile and able to move thru the woods as fast as I may need to. There are times I just set up and ride it out for the morning but thats the exception for me not the rule. Good luck to everyone this year.
