turkey decoy setup?

hi,

i decided this year to try jake and hen decoys. i have a flextone funkey chicken ugly jake decoy, 2 standing hens, and 1 feeding hen. im thinking of using the mating setup with the jake fixin to breed one of the standing hens and the other two hens out in the field a few feet from the jake. what does everybody think of this setup and does anybody else have any good suggestions using jake and hens setups. ive never used decoys alot so any help is greatly appriciated.

Late season, I just use a hen and I won't say much. I've found that later in the season, toms have seen a lot of jake/hen combo's and will shy away from them. Early in the season, if I use a jake, I'll keep it about 10 ft. away from the hen(s) and have the hens facing away from the jake, as if they want nothing to do with him. If possible, the whole setup will be arranged so the tom has to come past me to get to them.

I'm kinda wondering why the funky chicken? :confused0024: With all the great looking jake decoys for the same money, I have to ask? Yeah, I'm pulling your chain a little, but it is a serious question.

I would try to put a tree between the jake decoy and you...so you won't possibly get a load of #6's sent your way. The hen decoys should be facing the tom's approach, and the jake decoy should be facing away. On windy days...push a pair of dead sticks in the ground alongside the decoy's bodies, so that they won't spin around.

why not the funkey chicken? research it a little bit. watch some videos. read some reviews. and see if you ain't sold on it as well.
