what decoys should i buy?

Been a long time since I have bought decoys. The ones I have are getting pretty beat up, scratched and faded. I am really interested in the avian x 1/2 strut jake and breeder hen combo. Anybody use these or have another recommendation?

I have the Avian hen and like it.

Any decoy will work, I'd get what you want just get at least a hen and jake.

I have 3 of the Avian/Zink decoys and love them. They are the most realistic decoys I have ever seen except for the guys who use taxidermist done turkeys. Only 2 things that I'd change are the price which is usually $80 for hens, $100 for a jake and $120 for a strutter. They are also inflatable so you can blow them up while in the woods or before you go. I do mine at home and therefore if you use several they aren't ideal for running and gunning. Built more for a first thing set up when your not rushed. Other than that I love mine and have had hens peck the heads of them and jake bird mount one. They are built really well and made out of the stuff that the heavy red dodge balls are that we used in gym class as kids. Good luck in your choice.

Dave Smith Decoys...hands down, the most realistic and toughest decoy on the market.

Made in the USA.

Dave Smith here as well. I know you don't need to spend this kind of money on a decoy but they sure look realistic.

Another vote for DSD.

The DSD and Zink are tough to beat. I have heard that the DSD dekes are slightly heavier than the Zink but I can't confirm that. I've never actually laid hands on one. I might check them out in Nashville next weekend.

My mounted decoys are tops! Not cheap, but you can't get any more realistic. DSD's would be my second choice though.

I use the flextone funky chicken coupled with 2 or 3 hens. that makes for a great setup.
