Is this a good spot?

Hi. This is my first year turkey hunting and I was wondering if this is a good spot I am about to describe. My grandfather owns a small tract of land. It is a wooded area and it is surrounded by corn fields on 2 sides. I do not have permission to hunt the corn fields (the guy who farms it owns close to every field in town and won' t let anyone hunt them). Well anyway, there is a clearing in the woods about 30 yards from one of the cornfields (I was thinking of setting up in that clearing). Would this be a good place to hunt fall turkeys. I do not care whether it is a gobbler or a hen. I am not a trophy hunter by any means. I know there are turkeys there by the way. I have heard and seen a hen and 3 babies. I have not seen a gobbler but I' m sure there must be one down there somewhere.

I have all the equipment I need, and I just want to know if that is a good spot to hunt them. Thanks a lot for taking time to reply.

RE: Is this a good spot?

its REALLY hard to say without scouting it myself......scout it out...look for scratchings...dropped feathers should be showing up soon....this time of year there not to vocal like they are in the spring....and setting up anywhere in the fall just to wait isnt the BEST way to fall hunt...the chances of them walking within gun range isnt too great and they dont respond much to calls in the fall....the best way is to locate the roost and the food and locate the flock at daylight after they hit the ground....then bust the flock up by walking right into them scattering them making them run all around...then sit down somewhere where you can see and try to imitate the boss hen(she should be calling sometime after the break up trying to gather her flock again) then they might come in....thats the way ive heard to fall hunt.....but you gota scout and find where the turkeys are at durning diffrent times of hte day and where they are roosting....
