MLB finally connects
May 17th I shot a descent 2 year old Gobbler... Left work a 3am drove about 140 miles to my state forest... Got suited up right at about 5:30 walked about 1/4 mile and heard a bird gobble in a spot that I've hunted a couple times this spring... Anyhow the bird was on the ground and I got to within about 100 or so yards... I made a couple calls and that was it not another peep... Sat there just panning back and forth and caught movement about 60 yards out... Gun sittin in my lap... Slowly made my move bird came in lookin hard... He got to within 30-35 yards craned his head up and I pretty much figured this is as far as he dares come in so I let a load of hevi 13 #5's go... Dropped him in his tracks!!! 10.25" beard 7/8th" matching spurs...

Congrats ! what forest ?
|
Thanks BT... I harvested my Gobbler in Western Md out of Green Ridge State Forest...
I've had more hunter interference the last two springs than I've ever had in the 20 years of turkey hunting... It's tough when you aren't retired or single and only have a week or so to make something happen and you have jack wagons converge on you from 3 different angles!!! But I got it done in the short amount of time I had allotted to me this spring... Next spring will be different!!! Glove comes off!!! |
Congrats on the bird! Sounds like some very tough hunting conditions.

Congrats. Public land does have its challenges.

Thanks...
BT I must say I do get a kick out of some of you pics... Especially the ones of you posing by those public land signs!!! You definetly convinced me... Until next next spring... Can't wait |
Congrats Mr. Longbeard!
Hunting birds that are being hunted by others is always a tough way to hunt.. |
