28 ga

who out there is using a 28 ga., what loads, chokes and results, i shot one this spring with a combo 6 and 7.5's copper at about 1540fps. shot at 20 yds. so at that range a 410 would have worked in fact i also took a tom with the same combo but less speed at 15 yds, neither bird ever even flopped after it hit the ground

cheers

Not an answer to your question but i am pretty sure its illegal to hunt turkey in my state ( Indiana) with anything smaller than a 20ga.

I have a 28 O&U I use for grouse and woodcock and I dog train with it. Nice light gun fun to use. However buying factory rounds to upland hunt is atrocious in price. Twice the price of a 12 GA factory box of 25!
So I bought a reloader instead.

Sure do like this gun. But to me, my opinion, and mine only - it is a bit light to use for Turkeys.
I know call them in close like I do and any gauge even a 410 will work. But that is just me. So no argument there.

But good luck to ya 14 Ga.......call em close....
