Hevi shot is impressive!
Hevi shot is pretty good stuff Hunted a few states this year and was part of 6 gobblers being killed either shooting them myself or calling for others
all birds shot with Hevi 13 #5 shot in combination with Hevi shot choke tube 6 for 6 distances as follows 35, 40, 42, 50, 65, 75 I know those are extreme distances I was not the shooter on the farther 2 but watched both birds go down like they where hit with a sledge hammer not 1 of those 6 birds did little more than flap a wing once or twice. |
congrats on the birds
those last 2 should have walked and such shots should be kept un posted. very few guns will get a pattern capable of such shots and most people do not pattern their gun at all and they read these type posts and think it is ok to shoot at birds that far. then what happens. they do so and wound way more birds than they kill. |
Have to agree with snapper. 65 and 75 yards is pushing it in my book. Congrats on a good season.

75 yds seems far, but you can't argue with a downed bird. Dead is dead.
I'm a big fan of the stuff too. My fave is hevi-shot #4. The last few birds I've taken were with Wingmaster HD #6. The farthest bird I dropped wth it was 46yds. |
Been a convert as well. good shooting...

There's a big differecne form 75yds stepped off vs a true 75yds. And no one who calls theirself a turkey hunter has any business shooting a turkey at a true 75yds. And that goes for even shooting Hevi-Shot.

I like using hevi shot magnum blend, and I also like to get those birds in close that's why I turkey hunt. To enjoy Gods creation up close. Congrats on your success

I understand that your giving praise to Hevi-13 loads. I love them probably more than anyone. But please understand that this is a public forum, and what a person says here regardless of it being the truth in your case, that don't make it what I call right either. That is one of those things where you can just keep to yourself or maybe only tell some folks that you know well. Posting it here only makes those young or up and coming turkey hunters to think it's ok to shoot a trurkey at 60 or 65yds, and then how many birds will become wounded all because they read it here.
Now I hope you understand and again I wasn't attacking you. |
Ranged after the shot? If not how did he think he was at 60 and it was 75?
