What shotgun would you buy??
 

Ok, guys I've been kicking it around for awhile now to buy a new turkey gun. So I want to know if you could buy a new shotgun what would it be and why?? There are some really nice guns out there and I will be honest I am not to concerned about spending some cash to get the gun I want.

You can't go wrong with a pump, Remington 870,Mossberg 500, Browning bps.

If I were to buy a shotgun specifically for turkey it would be a Mossberg 930/935 turkey.

I would say a pump. BPS, Nova, Rem 870 or Mossberg 835.

I like my 870...its going on 20yrs and still a great gun...the stock is beat up and they are prone to surface rust BUT they will shoot everytime!

I own two:

Pump: Mossberg 835 perfect turkey gun

Semi: Remington 11-87 Super Magnum with the ShureShot stock, excellent and hold the pattern as well as the Mossberg 835

If money isn't an issue look into the Winchester SX3 Turkey, I loved it but the price was out of my range

With that said, I would look into

Pumps: Mossberg 835, or Remington 870 Super Magnum

Semi: The Winchester I mentioned above, same Remington I have or Versa Max, Browning (same as the Winchester SX3),

this is going to be based on many factors. weight of gun and distance to be carried. recoil. your personal tastes in guns. but. you can never fail with a simple gun. oh say a single shot that is pretty light. i choose an encore and will never look back. lets face it. unless you live in a state where you can kill more than one at a time you will rarely need more than one shot. it is light. it is compact yet still has a 24 inch barrel. it shoots awesome. it is a pleasure to shoot with turkey loads. plus no way will it ever jam nor will there ever be a chance of not having the bolt seated and therefore the gun wont fire.

Take a look at the Benelli Super Vinci and then get you
a Hevi13 Turkey choke tube to go with it....

I use a Beretta Extrema (camo, of course).

My waterfowler gun also.

mossberg 835 is an excellent turkey gun. I have shot turkey 40yds plus and it patterns great at 40yds. I also owned a mossberg 935 and it was a great turkey shotgun. I have no doubt that most of the new turkey guns will pattern well with the right loads. I use federal heavy weight 3.5" #5s.

My preference is a pump action. Realistically you are usually going to get one truly good shot anyway, but I have rolled a few at 45-50 yards, not making a quick head kill and had to follow up to keep them from flopping off. I try not to shoot that far and get the gobbler in closer, but sometimes it just does not work out that way. Past 50 yards, I just pass. Mine is a Benelli.
