Afternoon turkey hunts...

Hi everyone. I was just wondering how may of you hunt birds in the afternoon? I dropped off my 2nd blind at the property I hunt and am thinking about heading out and setting the 2 blinds up on opposite ends of the property. Just wondered how hunting in the afternoon would be. I know there are birds in the vicinty of the location. Just not sure exactly where they have been roosting. The property is only about 30 acres (woods) and adjoinging properties are pretty much off limits (except for tracking purposes). So if they are not roosting in my buddies woods, I will have to hope they are roosting close by and call them in.

Can't hurt to try... might call in a lonely Tom that still wants a little afternoon delight.

I've taken Easterns all the way up until near quitting time in the evening here in MI, as well as a Rio in Texas and a Merriams in SD! Toms will come in any time after they leave the roost until they fly up in the evening if you work them right.

cool... yea, we can hunt them here from sunrise to sunset. Went out yesterday for a few hours... didn't see or hear any. Looks like it could be a tough one here this spring.

We used to have a noon cutoff. Then they went to 4PM for a few years and now for quite some time it has been until a half hour before sunset, which is well after 8PM up here this time of the year.

I will let you know how my afternoons go. Due to my schedule I expect to be doing more of that this spring in Wisconsin.
