First Time Turkey Hunting - any tips?
I live in northern Colorado and I'm going turkey hunting for the first time. Anyone have any location suggestions and tips for a beginner?

I would scout the area prior to hunting. Look for tracks droppings feathers etc... possibly go in before light some morning and listen for gobblers. Watch where they go and setup in between where they roost and where they travel to.

PATIENCE.
Thats the best advice I can give you. Trust me. |
Practice calling, start out with just working on yelps, clucks and purrs. Check you tube or watch other videos. A Box call is the easiest to use, a pot call is also a good option.
Scout as much as possible, listen and look for sign. Know the area, if you here a bird in the distance it helps to know where he is, whats around him and how to get to him. More turkeys are killed by patience than by any other means. Good Luck, John |
tips
walk or drive till you see a fair amount of sign and then stick it out, turkey wander a great deal and eventually one of them will screw up and you can shoot it. on open areas, glass them
