First bird of the year
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After being skunked the last few years, I was able to put this bird on the ground this morning. Hunting around these big hay fields has been tough, so I am extremely excited to have finally gotten the dominate bird on our property. He has given me the slip on more occasions than I would like to admit. I've had a lot of close calls and disappointing hunts, which is all part of it. No doubt that those added to the excitement of this successful hunt. What even made things better was finding a nice shed on the way back to the truck, which is in one of the pics. He weighed in @ 20.12 lbs. |
Congratulations. Very nice bird.

Nice job! I hunted some over the weekend while I was home for Easter (southeast AL) and didn't hear a peep!

Great, now looks like you've got a project to get that buck this fall.
Good Luck! |

Beautiful bird. Love that rope. How long is it? Is that a 2nd little beard I see in one of the pics? Congrats on a well deserved bird.
|
Thank you! It was 11.5".......I didn't notice it, if there was a smaller beard.
