Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Opening day turkey..

I went out to go hunting for a 3hr hunt this morning which is our opening day..!! About time it has been a long wait in coming.. The turkeys answer pretty decent for me early in the morning and then just stopped right up..I waited for a little while and then decided to move on. So I decided on another spot to huntin. While there I saw a turkey with a beard coming threw the bushes and tall dead grass. It turned and started running.I could see the beard at every so often as it went the other way. So i hauled up and ahot. The rest is history sort of to speek. I shot the bearded bird and when I went up to check it out I soon realized it was a hen.. A bearded hen, she was sporting a 7 1/4 inch beard.

Congratulations Phil From Main,I would have done the same thing after 2 1/2 days of not hearing one gobble here in Southern Indiana the past week. I was getting ready to go after a Bearded Hen here if the Toms continued to refuse to play ball.I spoted one sporting about a six inch beard and she was a fat one. I'm sure you wanted a Tom but what is done is done. Do you get more than one bird in your state?

Thanks guys..

Yeah, they have not been very vocal here either. We are allowed to purchase 2 permits for our spring hunting season. Also it used to be if you struck out on your first permit you could get any turkey in the fall. New this year however you can shoot 1 more turkey of any sex during the fall season if you want to travel down state to do it.
