Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Does Tempature have a direct effect on gobbling?

I am just curious what effects does cooler than normal temps in the morning have a effect on gobbling?

If so what temps seem to shut them up?

I know that warmer temps can shut them up, but not sure about colder temps. I have heard them gobble on temps around freezing

Where I hunt tomorrow we are looking at temps to be around 32 degrees.

The temps have been in the 40's of the morning the past week or so but for a few weeks before that we had a bunch of 50+ degree mornings with a few 60's thrown in there.

Our mornings have been in the 50s lately. Yesterday it was 46 and I didn't hear a bird! This morning was 36 and I heard 4!

I guess it is just a crap shoot.

I have always been told on cold mornings they won't gobble much.

Since I have to travel 180 miles round trip I just didn't go on really cool mornings but I think I will give it a shot in the morning, that is if I can get my butt out of bed.

Go get em! I've taken a lot of birds when there's a frost on the ground, and they gobbled just fine. I've also had some very good mornings if it's stormed through the night! Don't know why that is but they seem to gobble real good.

I have taken birds with snow on the ground and they gobble. I also have taken birds in light rain and snow and they goblle. I also have taken birds when it is 70 to 80 degree's and they also have gobbled. I also been in the same conditions and nothing. I do think weather has some effect but then I have seen it both ways. Turkeys are just turkeys and very unpredictable.

I have always liked a cool clear morning. I don't want it freezing and I hate hot and cloudy. In my neck of the woods temps at daylight in the low 50's are perfect to me.

I've seen cold temp's shut them up for days. A fast drop is worst as the shoke must be why they clam up...

Hunted the last 2 days, temps at dawn in the mid-30's, plenty of gobbling.
