drying a fan

I was wondering how long i should keep the borax mule team on my fan/beard/feet. they have been there for 3 weeks and the beard is dry but the fan isn't so i was wondering how much longer i should keep it on there

For as long as it needs. Be sure to get as much meat out as possible and keep it indoors to prevent feather mites from getting to them.
You can change the borax and add new borax on it also.
Any tissue left on the base of the tail feathers will prolong drying time.

You will need to add some sort of preservative to the inside of the legs to preserve them. The borax will work on the fan and beard though.

I leave mine on fore more than 3 months and I'm in a dry climate, as posted earlier leave it on for as long as it takes for all the flesh to vanish.

It all depends on how much meat and bone you remove. I remove everything, so it takes mine only 2 to 3 weeks to dry. If it takes 4, 5, or 6 weeks, then it takes that long. It just means you didn't remove enough meat and bone. The more you leave, the longer it will take to dry. I showed pics on how much you should remove. I'll bump that thread back up.
