My best tip I can give you this year is to buy some Permethrin spray and spray all your gear. Ticks are mutha this year!

Here are my tips for turkey hunting and generally good things to remember:

-First of all, hunt where there are turkeys.
- Forget what you know about deer hunting. Turkeys aren’t deer.
- You can’t be too early, but you can be five minutes too late.
- Know your land, know your turkeys.
- You can call too much, but you can’t hardly call too little.
- When you think you’ve sat long enough, sit another half hour.
- Make the right move at the right time.
- They’re always closer than you think, except when you’re shooting.
- A turkey is a 20 pound eyeball.
- They don’t evaporate after 9:30 am.
- It’s always easier to call a turkey if he’s going there anyway.
- Turkey hunting isn’t a “gun” sport.
- You may not get a turkey, but you always get a lesson.

Got to tips and tactics, and read thoughts on working birds!!!! Other than that I always say go with someone who's hunted them a while if you can. You can learn a lot more about how to even start your hunt that way!

And x2 on what Wingbone said! Lol!! He's exactly right!!

Nailed it pretty much! And don't get frustrated they don't gobble everyday. One day they wont come to the sounds of a real hen or the best calls. The next they will come to hammer and a rock. When they aren't gobbling their butts off. Sit longer. Especially if you know they are there. Stay with it and practice the basic calls. Eventually you will learn what calls to hit them with. Best of luck to ya

Be patient. Don't call all the time. Know how the birds you're hunting operate. Have fun!
