Why 2 Blade Mechanical Broadheads Instead of 3

So basically I want to see what the consensus is on why you would use a two blade broad head instead of a 3? Isn't three always better? I'm looking at buying Rage Mechanical broadheads for my Turkey hunting this spring, but I am torn on exactly what to get (2 or 3 blade). I don't think I want to go with a regular fixed broadhead because it may be a bit more tuning then I quite understand exactly what i'm doing yet. I also like that the Rage come with a practice head.

This is Here say, but I have heard that the 2 blade flys better then the 3 blade. Seems people have had problems with windplaning with the 3 blade...

Use what works for you tune it in and work on it ive shot both and prefer the 3 blade but thats me. Even look at the guilotine head as an option its a close range sport so treat it that way .
Good luck

Ya I was thinking the three blades as well because it's a larger hole kinda. But I just wanted to see if there was any reason to go with a 2 blade instead of 3. This is my first hunt with a bow so the more advice and tips I get the better. I will wait another day and see if anyone has any other suggestions on what to use. The other great thing about the Rage is that they come with a practice head.

id shoot whatever is the most consistent head....i use mechanicals for deer but when i mess around with fixed blade heads the point of aim changes but i usually find one that groups well...that would be my pick.

You might consider penetration. With 3 blades more drag occurs, thus reducing penetration. Also might consider blade deployment, though it could happen in the same manner with a 2 blade.

For turkey the 2 blade is better, if your talking about 100 grain, it has a 2" cutting diameter instead of 1.5" from the 3 blade. When turkey hunting you want the arrow to stay in the bird and you have a better chance of it staying in the bird with a 2 blade than a 3 blade.

Frankly, I don't know that there is anything better about 2 blade heads specifically over 3 blade heads, other than if you're using straight fletching and a horizontally clocked head, maybe you're good enough to slice a turkey's head off.

On the other hand, there absolutely IS something better about the 2 blade RAGES over the 3 blade Rages. The 3 blade Rages are horribly unreliable. If you handle one for more than about 5 seconds you'll see what I'm talking about. They bind up all over themselves, even when you're just playing with one in your hand, let alone if it had any force against it, or hit anything solid. Watch the slow motion videos of the Rages and you'll see how violently the 2 blades kick open. They come wider than Rage even claims for their max cut diameter. The 3 blades seem to just push open sluggishly, and they don't give you the huge entry SLICES that the 2blades cause (we have all seen the pics of 2 blade Rage entry cuts 4-5" wide!).

Then there are the other guys that will say that ANY 2 blade flies better than any 3 blade, which from a fluid mechanics standpoint, I'd probably agree with. Guys tend to THINK that a flat 2 blade will "plane" really badly, but in reality, a 2 blade has much less drag than a 3 blade, so a 2 blade is honestly less effected by the wind than a 3 blade. I can't say that I've shot the 3 blades Rages side by side against the 2 blade Rage, but I HAVE done so with NAP Bloodrunners, and frankly, the 2 blades DO fly better. Is it a huge difference? No. Is it noticeable? Depends on how well you shoot, and how far you shoot well. Does it make a REAL difference to say 3 blades aren't good? No. Do I use 2 blades at every chance I get? Yes.
