chokes

i was looking at buying a turkey choke for my 12 gauge and i was wondering what the "Constriction (in.)"is. i saw it on the website and then it will say like .665 what does the numbers mean.

That would be thousandths of an inch. The smaller the number, the tighter the choke.

Search around on these forums a bit and you can find what others have had success with. It's best to match the choke with the load you plan to shoot.

thanks so the lower the number the better it will be for turkey hunting because of the tighter patern right.

Theoretically, yes. Realistically, maybe not. You can also over-constrict the load and what results is a pattern that is worse. A "blown pattern" if you will. You have to find the sweet spot.

No the lower is not the better,

You can also over choke a shell and have deformed shot which will cause flyers and bust the pattern.

I have shot patterns with different choke constrictions for years and have seen what different sizes do. I also have tried out never every choke company out there along with TruLock.

If you plan on shooting lead/Copper turkey loads try out the constrictions between .655-.665

If its heavy shot loads then work with the .665-.670 as if preforms better out of more open constrictions.

The best I have used is Pure Gold Chokes and I won;t even shoot a 12 gauge anymore...

Could be. Each choke/shell combo will be different. Maybe not be night and day, but it will be different. Personally, I shoot hevishot through a .660 choke and the pattern is tight. If I were to shoot lead through it, it might be a terrible pattern. You just can't be sure until you put it to the test.

Take a look at the Hevi13 choke tubes. They hold
terrific patterns for me in my Benelli and Remington.
