Turkey scouting question

When is a good time to start scouting for turkey? Do turkey stay in same general area in spring as in fall?

Thanks

Not necessarily. Around here, they'll yard up like deer, and spread back to their home territory in spring. They might yard up 3 or 4 miles away from where you'll find them in spring. And I've noticed that quite often you won't find them in the same area in spring and fall.

I agree with wingbone! During deer season where I hunt it's rare to see a turkey, but without fail their back every spring. As far as when to scout, I always start a few weeks before season if I've got a new spot. For my regular turkey woods, I just stay out until time to hunt.

They can use different areas in spring and fall, but they can also use the same area in the spring. The best way to find out is go out early on a sunny morning and listen for gobbling. You can also walk your land and look for tracks, feathers, and scratching

As soon as the nice weather starts to set in.? You will start to hear them gobbeling already.?
