Whats you opinion of turkey chokes in general?

I like the extended ones in extra full.

Good, if you hit them in the head.

Let us know what you think..........................??

The extended after-market tubes are definately better than any factory full choke. They are specifically designed to work with turkey loads. Which one works with your gun the best will depend on your gun and your loads. The tubes designed to shoot lead will work best with lead, the one designed to shoot hevi-shot will work best with that.

I use the Ulti full extended tube that came with my 835.It's .695 constriction. They do add a little reach but aren't needed 90% of the time.A bonus you get with any extended tubes is the more gradual taper deforms larger shot less.Really nice if you use BB's or up to buckshot for coyotes.

Others already commenting have about covered it ! Only significant draw back is the really close shot. The patterns are so tight that you are essentially shooting a 1" - 2" wide rifle bullet. It is just made up of bunches of closely piled up shot. A few years back I missed a nice bird at about 7 yards. It came in behind me, crossed in front and spotted me. It was about to skedaddle. I took what I thought was a well aimed shot, but flat missed.

I got a Primos Jellyhead and it patterned pretty good with some #8s, i'll load up some Turkey loads tommorow and pattern it with those.

I have a Truglo TG170X that I used in my 3" 870 Express. I used primarily the black Wincester #4's in that gun & missed only 1 bird. I just got a 3 1/2 870 Sps-T & I want to go w/ Hevi-shot Magnum Blend. Truglo's website says the 170X is compatible w/ "Hevi-shot". But it also says "no steel shot" used with the choke. My question is, because I'm not 100% sure...is the Magnum Blend steel shot? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use a Jellyhead and it patterns great with the Rem. Wingmaster HD's and the Hevi blend.

No. The Magnum Blend is not steel shot. It as a combination of 5's,6's and 7's in one shell for both pattern density and energy upon impact.
