Never really liked a Mossberg... Never seen one really pattern that good with a factory choke...

I,ve got 3 Remingtons and all three pattern pretty good out to 40 yards with factory super full turkey choke and Win HV #5's...

Then you should try to get out afield more often. Have no experience with the 535 but Mossberg 835's are some of the best patterning shotguns for turkeys in the land.

I'll agree todd the 835 mossberg is one awsome turkey gun. I wouldn't be afraid to whack one out to 65 yards. I have patterned mine at that range and wow, lots of pellets to the head. My mossberg definatly out shot my remington every time with multiple shells.

So you say...

I've seen 3 835 uli mags that wouldnt even come close to my cheap ol 870 express with a Remington Ventilator choke and Win HV #5's...

So I'm not chancing my money on something I've yet to see pattern ok out to 40 yards, unless you spend a boat load of money for chokes and shells...

I'm sure Mossberg has gottin it right since then, but Remington has alway had it right!!!

So I'll go with a provin winner JA

Don't know personally, but I've got a friend who loves his Mossberg pump.

Love my 535... shoots well at 40y with the factory choke and winchester supreme 6's. But, put an Indian Creek in it and shoot some Hevi-shot...awesome.

104 hits in 9 1/2" circle at 50y

It has been my experience that the typical 835 which has a over bored (back bored, whatever you choose to call it) barrel will out pattern the typical 870 when it comes to turkey loads. There are of course exceptions to every rule but that has been the rule in my experience. And I speak as someone who owns both.

The best pattern I have ever gotten a 870 to throw at 40 yards was about 190 pellets inside 10 inches at 40 yards. A great killing pattern to be sure. But that was after trying many combinations of chokes and shells before finally deep polishing the inside of the barrel, adding a 100 dollar custom ordered Rhino choke and using custom order 8 dollar apiece Nitro Ammo Company shells.

On the other hand my 835 with an over the counter Hevi-Shot choke and over the counter Hevi 13 ammo will put 270 + inside 10 inches at 40 yards.
