JW Private land birds do get pressured because of tresspasser or people hunting a joining properties. And if your privat land boarders public it just may as well be public because those birds are getting called and pushed just as much as the public land birds. No matter how much homework you do on public land all it takes is people beating you to your spot or they are after the same bird as you. That has happened to me more times than I care to count and as much as 4 or more people are all calling the bird you are hunting. On private ground you don't have to worry about that unless people tresspass. Public grounds that have alot of hunters is going to be alot harder to haverest a bird from than private ground that has only a few people with permission to be there. |

I hunt both public and private lands
Unless you have access to thousands of acres of private lands, which may be more common out west. Generally public lands gives you way more oppurtunities I hunt 50 acres private land in upstate ny And hunt public lands in pa and ny I like hunting both . State lands may get crowded near common parking areas, but walk deeper into the lands, or find access points down back roads and rarely see another person. Even in high population areas like pa and ny Even when have my own land to hunt I often go to the bordering state lands to hunt. |

Just because a bird gets pressured.Doesn't mean he's gonna stop breedin.Long as he's in that breedin mode,He's killable. You just can't use the same tactics as on non pressured birds.Ya gotta do what the real hens are doin.If they won't come to a call(man made or a real hen)then they won't breed and the species is gonna die off(of old age) Ya just gotta give em what they want.I was walkin into a Pa. state game lands late one mornin.Another guy was on his way out.He said I might as well turn around, they weren't talkin.25 min later I carried a bird out.

As long as I'm turkey hunting, I don't care if it's public or private....
