Hey yall. So I got some land to hunt and before turkey season every year I see plenty of signs and scratching but come opening day they don't come around anymore. Its like they know what's going down. How can I give them a reason to continue coming. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

They may be only feeding on your property, and not roosting on it. If you're not running them off, something is drawing them somewhere else. If you can locate the roosting area, it might tell you a lot.

There are folks who run feeders on their land during turkey season. Maybe you could try planting some chufa on your place. I understand that turkeys love that stuff.

I agree with JoeA, plant something for them....chufa, clover...

I've hunted places before with friends that swear there everywhere during deer season but no sign when we go. On the other hand, I take 2 or 3 every year on my own place, but it's rare to see them in the winter. In my case it's swampy and the hens leave the river bottom to areas on my land to nest and breed. Are you surrounded with better suited property for them like pasture land or open hardwoods?

Yeah try putting up a deer feeder with corn. If you have snow cover now it will bring them in and they'll stay around come season.

Turkeys do have winter feeding areas and spring summer feeding areas. That could be why you are not seeing them during spring. Just a thought...
