How do you attach the spur to the wing bone? What did you coat it with?
That looks awesome. Reminds me of the scrimshaw whale bones I used to see in New England as a kid. |
The spur isn't attached. The middle section of the call is the actual leg from the gobbler with the spur intact. I just sawed it, took the skin off, and then cleaned it off. The mouthpiece and the end of the call are bones from the wings.
The finish I put on all my calls is called "Flexcoat". It is he same finish that custom rod builders use to finish their builds. Flexcoat takes about 6 hours to dry and has to be slowly turned while drying otherwise it will sag. Sort of a touchy finish to deal with but it looks great and will add a lot more protection to the call as compared to a spray finish. |
That call looks awesome. Do you sell any of your calls?
|
Awesome looking call! Man - I wish I had one! Might be sending you some WINGS! LOL

Kelly,
Yes, I am selling my calls. After making them for friends and to donate to banquets, I have started to sell over the last year or so. I don't have a website but you can pm me for more info. You also can google "FinBonZ" and see a few more of my calls. |
