I' ve had one since they first came out and it has served me well. I purchased another one 2 seasons ago and gave my first one to my wife. We' ve both had good success with them. I' ve heard lots of stories but haven' t had any problems with either of ours yet. They both shoot really well.

Have had one since the first year they where avalible.No problems but put an after market choke in, super tight patter now.Gun is light so with 3 1/2' s it kicks like a mule,but when i,m putting the miles on looking for a bird you won' t hear me complain.

I have one and enjoy shooting it. I mainly only use 3" shells for turkey hunting so it isn' t that bad. But when it comes to turkeys there is only supposed to be 1 shot and when the biord is there you do not pay any attention to the recoil:D

I bought the first one I saw in a store somewhere around 10 to 12 year' s ago, and knock on wood I haven' t had any problem' s out of it. I have taken a number of duck' s, to great to count, shooting 3 inch steel and geese also using 3 inch and 3 1/2 inch streel. I even took my first Turkey with it, using the xxfull choke it came with, he was 41 yards from me and I was using winchester 2 3/4 #6' s. I decided not to shot 3 inch or the 3 1/2 at Turkey' s, why should I let a gun(any gun) kick me when shooting 2 3/4 inch does the trick, there were thousands taken with the 2 3/4 before a 3 inch or 3 1/2 were ever sold.

I bought a used one at a gun show---put a Hastings choke in it---mounted a Simmons 2X ProDiamond scope on it. I shoot 3.5 inch number 4 Winchester HV. I wouldn' t trade it. A real turkey thumper. The only time you feel the recoil is when you are patterning---otherwise you never feel it when a longbeard is squarely in the scope.

The down side is that it is a bit heavy and the fore are rattles. But I have been turkey hunting for three years and have taken 8 with this shotgun. I see no need to look elsewhere.

It' s everything you need in a turkey gun and more. Yeah, it kicks a little but when you down on your bird, who the hell notices the recoil. I recently scoped my 835 because the pattern is so tight at close ranges, you have to hold dead on the bird. You' ll never have a quam about using the 835, unless you can' t handle the recoil sighting it in...lol ;)

I liked my 835 so much I traded my Benelli for it and a new Rem 700 30/06.

I almost bought one about four years ago, but elected to go with something else. I really like the Mossberg 835 except that I thought it was kinda heavy. And that was what it ultimately came down to and so I purchased a different gun which I' ve been very happy with.

Rochelle,I agree with Rob here!Yes absolutely it will get the job done.I guide fulltime during the spring season and over half the clients I take shoot an 835 not only in the turkey woods but duck blind too.My dad has dropped lets just say a few gobblers with his as well without a problem and for all you fellas that worry about recoil my 11 year old son killed his birds this year with his as well.Put a 10 gauge load in a 12 and sure its gonna kick.Shoot a 3' or 2-3/4 mag and you' ll be fine!;)

Im only 16 and i jsut bought one this spring, I shot at a bird with it and it doesnt kick nemore then a normal 12 gauge. I shoot 3 1/2" mags outta mine wiht no problem.

Yep and then some. I use mine for anything I' m going to use a shotgun on. I agree with WorthlessNut when you bear down on a animal you don' t notice the recoil! BUT (theres always a but) when you pattern with 3 1/2' s it sucks. The only other advice is (do as I say & not what I did) MAKE DANG GOOD & SURE it' s seated in your shoulder before pulling the trigger.................vertical shot on a canadian goose, the ol' collar bone was sore for 3 days! The worst part about it .............I missed! That' s why they call it hunting & not killing!

It' s a mighty fine turkey gun. I bought mine this spring and it' s a very good 30 yard gun, which is what they design it for. It does kick, but I just fold up a towell between my shoulder and the gun when on the range and go for it. Never feel recoil when shooting at game.:D
It' s ready to hunt out of the box after patterning.
I would not want it for wingshooting, it doesn' t have the feel for that IMO. But to shoot a handful of times per year for turkeys, it' s a great gun.
