I live in northern Calif. and we acually have a good bird population. The problem is 99% of them are on private land. If you don`t know somebody that has a ranch that will let you hunt on it,s pretty much a pay to play situation.

Protrapper unfortunately for many speaks the truth.Even many of the private ranches are leased by some hunting party.I would put in for as many as the special draw hunts as you can.Most of these draw areas are full of turkeys and from what I know from those who have been drawn the success was high!Contact the Calif Dept of Fish & Games website at http://www.dfg.ca.gov...This will help in giving you guides and licensing info!:)
