Well, did he go get him or what? Hope so, I missed one opening day and shot 3 longbeards within 200 yds of that opening week. Never saw another gobbler all season after that. Anyways, I've took several birds after fudging it up within a day or two, I just get in a different spot and try to get close. It isn't like they know what the heck is going on they just get a little more cautious. The ones I have more trouble with are the ones that hang up and never offer a bad shot to begin with! LOL!!

Get yourself some shooting sticks.
Once you think you are going to have a shot; get your gun on your sticks and prepare yourself, so you can remain still with your gun at the "ready". Then, you can concentrate on putting your bead on his head....................dead bird !!! |
Thanks for all the input... I decided to wait til NEXT Saturday to return, since it's private land. I WILL post the outcome! :)
Thanks again Don |
Yeah, I would go back there again. I saw the tom I missed this morning but couldn't get a shot at him. I should of but wasn't ready for him. He acted normal and was around 300 yards up from where it was. It also looked as though he was heading back to where I had missed him.

No worries BDB. I missed a bearded hen this season at 6yds. Most turkey guns pattern really tight at 10yds, and you gotta be dead on with no slop.
Keep at it. |
I would give him a few days or come at him from another direction
