Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default short season from surgery update: VIDEO

Here is the video I mentioned in my other post. I have a crappy camera so it's VERY dark at the beginning in the low light. The first few seconds are me walking to the woods from the truck. Turn your volume up to hear the gobbling. You can tell when he's getting close. My calling isn't much to listen to at high volume... but he didn't care. You'll notice how he's got his eyes to the left when he comes into view. I think he's eying the doe a little ways to my left that had been stomping her feet for a while. Or he saw me. Or he didn't see the hen he'd been expecting (there was a decoy out) or some other reason. Anywho, I will bet that I could be eating turkey right now if I'd have taken my Mossberg and Hevi-13's. Enjoy the video. 2011 No-gun turkey hunt

I had a microdiscectomy, which is a pretty non-invasive surgery. My L5-S1 disc (way down right above my tailbone) was severely herniated, pinching nerves to the point that I lost feeling and reflexes down my right leg and foot and causing some intense pain. They just cut in between my spine and my back muscle (being a deer butcherin' type I call it my backstrap), chisel out a little opening in one of my vertebrae for room to get in, cut out the bulged part of the disc to free the nerve, and then sew me up. The stitches were on the inside and they glued the cut on the surface so I don't even have any stitches. Pretty cool really.
